Ghostriders dump Leafs 4-1 in KIJHL action in Nelson

But Calvin Tisley added an insurance goal in the third period as the riders rebounded from a 13-1 shot domination by Nelson to out shoot the home side 12-5 in the third.Nelson out shot the Ghostriders 25-21.The Leafs return to action Saturday when the Murdoch Division club hosts Grand Forks at 7 p.m. in the NDCC Arena.LEAGUE NOTES: Former Nelson Leafs and Fernie Ghostriders Connor McLaughlin was named the ACAC Hockey Online player of the week after accumulating seven points during a weekend series. 2012 Vawdon Cup

first_imgThe 2012 Vawdon Cup will commence this Friday, 17 August and will be contested over 10 rounds right through until Grand Final day on Saturday, 3 November 2012. This year’s competition will see 81 teams competing across nine divisions, comprising of Men’s, Women’s, Mixed and Masters grades from all over the greater Sydney region.For the first time, the Wollongong Devils will field a Men’s Open team in the Men’s Premier League division which will include 2012 Australian Trans Tasman representatives Matt Tope, Terry Deegan (Men’s) and Michael Chapman (Mixed) as well as plenty of exciting up-and-coming talent. This year’s competition is set to be fierce and last year’s Vawdon Cup winners will be out to retain their titles when the Cup begins Friday night. The draw includes two double-header rounds to be played on Sunday, 9 September (Rounds 4 and 5) and Sunday, 7 October (Rounds 8 and 9).The competition will be an ideal opportunity for those players selected in the New South Wales teams to sharpen their teeth against some of the state’s best talent before they take on Queensland in the 2012 State of Origin Series, to be held in conjunction with the National Youth Championships in late September in Port Macquarie.
